Terms of Service

By using HumanWroteThis, you agree to these terms. They're short and written plainly.

What HumanWroteThis does

HumanWroteThis is a tool that certifies the typing process — it records that text was entered character by character into our interface, without pasting or automated input. When you receive a certificate code, it means that the content associated with that code was typed manually into our system.

We do not verify the accuracy, originality, or authorship of the content itself. A certificate is not a claim that writing is good, true, original, or free of AI assistance outside our tool. It only certifies the act of typing.

The typing requirement

Our service is built around one rule: you must type directly into our interface. Pasting, drag-and-drop, and automated input are technically blocked. Any attempt to circumvent these restrictions — through browser automation, scripts, accessibility tools used deceptively, or other means — violates these terms and voids any certificate produced.

Your content

You own everything you type. By submitting content to HumanWroteThis, you grant us a limited license to store and display it as part of the certificate service. We do not claim ownership of your writing, sell it, or use it for any purpose other than operating the service.

Public certificates are visible to anyone with the code. Private certificates are visible only to you. You can delete your account and associated content at any time by contacting us.

No warranty

HumanWroteThis is provided as-is. We make no guarantees about uptime, data retention, or fitness for any particular purpose. Certificate codes are not legally binding documents. We are not liable for any decisions made based on a certificate's existence or contents.

In plain terms: this is a useful signal, not legal proof.

Acceptable use

You may not use HumanWroteThis to:

  • Submit content that is illegal, defamatory, or violates others' rights
  • Attempt to circumvent the typing restrictions
  • Use automated tools to generate certificates at scale
  • Misrepresent what a certificate means to third parties

Changes

We may update these terms as the service evolves. If something significant changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service means you accept the updated terms.
